CTT Expresso
Create CTT Expresso shipments to Portugal and the rest of the EU and download their labels straight from a shipping order in the WMS.
What it does
Create CTT Expresso shipments to Portugal and the rest of the EU directly from a shipping order, without leaving the WMS, and download the label and acceptance certificate CTT returns.
How it works
- Once the plugin is configured, CTT Expresso is available as a carrier on a shipping order. The shipment is created with CTT when the order is dispatched, and the shipping order's carrier tab shows the CTT Reference (a link to CTT's public tracking page), the Delivery Note and the sub-product used.
- Portugal and the rest of the EU. Portugal, including the Azores and Madeira, ships as a domestic shipment and needs a Portuguese postal code in the NNNN-NNN format. Other destinations in the EU customs territory ship as international shipments and need a postal code. Destinations outside the EU customs territory, including the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, are refused: they need a customs declaration with a declared value the WMS doesn't have.
- The product has to suit the destination. Before contacting CTT, the WMS checks the carrier's Sub-product against the destination. A domestic product (19, 19 Múltiplo, 13 Múltiplo, Para Amanhã, Em 2 Dias) can't go abroad, and an international one (EMS Europa, EMS Internacional Premium) can't go to Portugal. A mismatch stops the shipment with an error naming the product and the country, before anything reaches CTT.
- Recipient phone numbers are sent the way CTT expects them. Portuguese numbers go as their nine digits. For the rest of the EU, a number without a country code gets the destination's dial code (a leading 0 is dropped, except for Italy, San Marino and Vatican City); a number that already starts with + or 00 is kept as it is.
- CTT labels are ZPL, for thermal printers. On the carrier tab, Download Label gives you the ZPL file, and Download PDF converts it to PDF on your computer so you can e-mail it or print it on an ordinary printer. You can download the label as often as you need: the WMS keeps the copy CTT sent and never asks CTT for a new one. The download icon turns green once the label has been downloaded.
- Download Acceptance Certificate downloads the acceptance certificate PDF CTT sent with the shipment. If CTT hasn't issued one, you get a message saying so.
- CTT doesn't report deliveries back to the WMS, so there is no delivery tracking for CTT: the shipping order moves to Delivered as soon as it is dispatched, instead of waiting in In shipping.
- If a shipment fails, the carrier tab shows the Error status and CTT's message. Fix the problem and use Retry Submission.
- When closing packing on an order with an automatic carrier plugin, you can use Confirm with carrier label to finish the shipment in one click instead of confirming manually.
- If you connect an online store, the order is marked as fulfilled there with the CTT reference and the tracking link.
How to set it up
- Activate the plugin under Plugins → Carriers. If you don't have a CTT Expresso carrier yet, the app offers to create one for you, already linked to the plugin.
- On the Connection tab, enter the Authentication ID, User ID, Client ID and Contract ID CTT issued for your contract.
- In Environment, leave QA (test) while you are testing. Switch it to Production when you're ready to send real shipments.
- Click Check configuration. It confirms the plugin is active and every credential is filled in; it doesn't contact CTT.
- On the Configuration tab, enter the default Sub-product code (for example ENCF005.01) and the Distribution Channel (99), and turn on Always Fragile if every shipment should be marked fragile.
- On the Sender identity tab, set the sender CTT prints on the label. Fields you leave empty use your organization's details.
- To ship to the rest of the EU, give a carrier an international product: go to Entities → Shipping Carriers, open the CTT Expresso carrier and pick EMS Europa (ENCF008.02) or EMS Internacional Premium (EMSF002.02) under Sub-product. A carrier with a domestic product only ships within Portugal, so if you ship to both, use one carrier for each.
Important notes
- With Production selected, every shipment is real and billed by CTT. Until you select it, shipments go to CTT's test server.
- A CTT shipment can't be cancelled from the WMS, because CTT offers no cancellation. Once CTT has accepted a shipment, the WMS won't send that order to CTT again.
- Cash on delivery isn't available with CTT Expresso: an order with cash on delivery is refused.
💡 Tip: inside the application, the plugin's configuration page has an Integration Guide button with the detailed technical walk-through, and a Start Tour button for a guided tour of the screen.
