The Warehouse Map: how it works

See your warehouse's drawn layout in 3D or 2D, coloured by occupancy or alerts, and search it by rack, location, product, batch or volume.

The Warehouse Map shows the layout drawn for your warehouse — racks, aisles and floors — as an interactive 3D or 2D map, coloured by how full each rack is or by the alerts you need to deal with. It's read-only: you can look around, search and open any rack's details, and nothing you do here changes the layout. It sits on the same screen as the Positions Map, which shows occupancy zone by zone rather than on a drawing.

    How to access it

Open Locations from the side menu. The screen opens on the Warehouse Map tab, showing your warehouse's active layout in 3D.

If your warehouse has no active layout yet, the first visit moves straight on to the Position Map tab instead. Going back to the Warehouse Map tab shows Warehouse layouts, the list of the warehouse's layouts, where Open map opens any of them.

    Note

Creating and editing layouts is reserved for the super administrator role. For every other user, the Warehouse Map and the list of layouts are read-only.

    Moving around the map

    • 2D and 3D switch between the flat plan and the 3D model. The 3D view needs WebGL: on a browser or device without it, the 3D button is disabled.
    • In 3D, a reminder in the corner shows the mouse controls: Left: rotate · Right: move · Wheel: zoom. Top view puts the camera straight above the warehouse.
    • In 2D, drag the map to move around it, use the zoom buttons to zoom in and out, and Fit to see the whole floor again.
    • When the layout has more than one floor, the floor buttons in the toolbar switch between them.
    • The expand button opens the map over the whole window; press Esc to leave.
    • The View menu shows or hides the Metric grid, the Rulers and the minimap, and sets what the Rack labels show.

The bar along the bottom of the map counts the racks and locations on the floor and, while the occupancy colouring is on, shows the average occupancy.

    Colouring the map

The Occupancy button colours the racks by the stock they hold. It's on when the map opens, and its options are in the legend, which the Legend button shows or hides:

    • Under Occupancy, pick the base colouring: Saturation (how full each rack is, from Empty to 100% — all with stock), Empty positions (whether the rack still Has a free position) or ABC rotation (A — fast, B — medium, C — slow).
    • Under Alerts, pick Blocked, Expiring or Expired: the racks holding blocked stock, batches close to expiry or expired batches stand out in one strong colour, and everything else turns grey (No alert).

At the top, the legend shows how many Free positions are left on the floor and what share of all positions that is. In 3D every position is drawn as its own box, and a free one is drawn hollow (Empty position).

Turn Occupancy off and the racks go back to the colours of their element type. The legend then lists the types (Element type), and clicking a type hides or shows it on the map.

You can drag the legend around by its header, or pin it beside the map with the pin button. Your browser remembers where you left it; the colouring is not remembered, and the map always opens on Saturation.

    Searching the map

    1. Select Search in the map toolbar.
    2. Fill in one or more fields — they're combined:
      1. Rack code
      2. Location
      3. Node / zone
      4. Product
      5. Batch
      6. Volume
    3. Select Search in the panel.

The rest of the map fades: in 2D the positions found are marked with rings, and in 3D only they stay solid. A results card lists every location found, with the product, batch and quantity. Select a row to open the rack on that position; when the search finds a single location, it opens straight away. If some results are on another floor, the card shows how many there are on each floor, so you can jump there.

Each field you used shows as a chip you can remove on its own, and the × on the results card clears the whole search.

    Rack details

In 2D, click a rack to see a summary — its occupancy, positions and stock — and select View details to open the details panel on the right. In 3D, clicking a rack or a position opens the panel directly.

    The panel shows:

    • the rack's occupancy and how many of its positions are in use;
    • Stored articles, with each product's photo when it has one — click the photo to see the product's details;
    • Rack map, the rack's levels and positions as a grid, coloured like the map. Click a position to see what it holds, and the map points to it.

The selected rack pulses on the 2D map, and the selected position gets a ring in 2D or an outline in 3D. The arrow button tucks the panel away to give the map more room — the map keeps its colours — and the tab on the right edge brings it back.

    Picking paths

Users with the Administrator profile also see a Paths button on the active layout. It opens a panel with two tabs:

    • Replay plays back a day's picking, trip by trip and stop by stop, with the distance, duration and metres per pick. Choose the Date and, if you want, an Operator and a Shipping order.
    • Traffic shows which parts of the aisles were walked the most over a period — 7 days, 30 days, 90 days or your own From and To dates.

The walks follow the open part of each aisle and swing wide of rack ends, and a busy aisle's traffic is spread across its width instead of being drawn as a single line.
