    Sorter (Automated Sorting)

    What is a Sorter?

A Sorter (Automated Sorting System) is an automated transport system (usually conveyor belts or mechanical arms) that diverts parcels (boxes or packages) to different destinations or exits, based on criteria such as the carrier, postal code, or delivery route.

    Synchronization between WMS and Automation

The WMS acts as the master of the Sorter. The process works as follows:

    Code Reading

A scanner reads the shipping label on the conveyor.

    WMS Query

The control system asks the WMS: "Where does this box go?"

    Sorting

The WMS responds instantly and the mechanical system pushes the box to carrier X or Y's dock.

    High Performance

Ideal for high-volume e-commerce operations, where it is humanly impossible to manually sort thousands of packages by carrier in a timely manner.
