    Radio Frequency (RF)

    Comprehensive Definition

Radio Frequency (RF) is the wireless communication technology that serves as the backbone for a modern warehouse operation. It enables instant data exchange between handheld terminals, tablets or onboard computers and the central WMS server. Through a network of Access Points distributed throughout the facility, information flows without the need for cables or paper.

    Impact on WMS Operations

Without RF technology, the WMS would be just a static database. With RF, the system becomes alive:

    Instant Updates

As soon as an operator scans a barcode, stock is updated in the system. This eliminates the information lag between what happens in the warehouse and what the office sees.

    Paper Elimination

Work orders are sent directly to the operator's screen, reducing transcription errors and consumable costs.

    Mobility and Agility

Allows operators to receive new instructions (such as an urgent pick or a priority change) anywhere in the warehouse, without having to return to base.
